WEEK SIX-PRICE
I had problems with a company over their price. They had a
come on trial price but charged me full price.
Here is the story-
I was up for 30+ hours last week, that is an important
detail. The company HUDHomesUSA has been
sending me emails for months perhaps years.
I hardly ever open unknown emails but I decided to check
their link to a marketing offer. They would give a one-month trial to see
foreclosed homes lists. The consumer’s credit card would be charged $1.00 then
after the one month trial the customer would be charged $49.90 each month if subscription
was not canceled.
I copied and pasted the terms to my laptop so there would be
no confusion. I always do this. I also wanted to know when I had to cancel the
subscription.
Due to being overtired, I gave them my credit card number.
Big mistake.
Chase sent me a fraud alert right away asking if I had authorized the $49.90 on my credit card. I clicked I had not authorized that charge. I had to get a new credit card number. The company also charged me for 2 $1.00 charges. With my credit card the company charged me 3 times.
The upshot is to give your credit card number only to
reputable companies that consumers recognize.
Lesson learned. Please learn for my mistake.
