"Prove it to us"
Many years ago, a men's big and tall retail store had a coupon in the newspaper, which I cut out for my
mother to purchase clothes for my brother.
When my mother tried to use the coupon at the store but the salesperson said to my mother "prove it is
our coupon." The boxed coupon didn't have any store name in the the coupon box. It just said so much
off with an expiration date. The salesperson was no help, she should know the current marketing
ads.
My mother came home and said she needs to "prove" it's their coupon to get the discount. I was
livid that I had to prove their coupon. I had to go through the recycling bags to find the full ad. My
mother then took the rest of the ad to the store. The salesperson was very apologetic.
To be able to use the coupon was a run around that represented poor customer service. The company
designed the coupon and I cut along their lines.
Lesson learned also cut more than just the coupon, clip the full ad that clearly shows the company's
name.
